David Azoulai, the mayor of the northern Israeli settlement of Metula, criticized the government and the Israeli army’s Northern Command for attempting to "normalize" sporadic rocket attacks from Lebanon following the launch of three rockets from southern Lebanon on Saturday morning.
"We will not permit them to legitimize this situation. I urge Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and certainly Major General Ori Gordin, who leads the IDF Northern Command, to take proactive measures ensuring that not even a single shot is fired at the northern communities again," he stated to the Ynet news website.
"This is a failure; it mirrors precisely the containment policy from October 7. Rather than engaging with trivialities, begin ensuring safety for the nation's inhabitants," he implored.
