ALL eyes will be on Telangana as it prepares to welcome participants from 120 nations for the 72nd edition of the world-renowned Miss World Festival set to take place in the state of Telangana, south-central India, from May 7 to 31.
The inauguration event will take place on May 10 at the Gachibowli indoor stadium.
This edition marks another significant achievement in the event’s extensive history.
Zimbabwe will have Courtney Jongwe as its representative for Miss World, holding the title of current Miss World Zimbabwe with pride.
The 23-year-old student of chemical and process engineering at Manicaland State University has already showcased her elegance and resolve on an international platform by representing Zimbabwe at the Miss Earth 2023 pageant.
Driven by a commitment to mental health advocacy, she seeks to leverage this esteemed platform to enhance her reach and foster meaningful transformation.
"I'm extremely thrilled and I simply cannot wait to go," an overjoyed Jongwe told INSPIRATIONS DIGITAL Weekender Life & Style.
After the successful 71st edition held in New Delhi and Mumbai, the event will now shift to Telangana, recognized globally as the vaccine hub of the world.
This state is characterized by its dynamic energy and stands out for blending ancient customs with contemporary trends.
The international beauty contest, highlighting cultural diversity, purposeful leadership, and empowerment, will feature multiple events planned throughout the region.
More than 12 locations will be part of the 25 day-long event.
On the last day, the festival will culminate in a grand finale to be hosted at Hitex Exhibition Centre in the capital of Hyderabad, where the reigning Miss World, Krystyna Pyszková, of the Czech Republic, will crown her successor.
The press conference took place last Thursday (March 20). The formal announcement was made earlier, with Julia Morley CBE—chairwoman and CEO of Miss World Limited—and Smita Sabharwal, who serves as the secretary for the Government of Telangana’s Departments of Tourism, Culture, Heritage, and Youth Affairs, presenting together.
"We are thrilled to host the 72nd Miss World Festival in Telangana, a state that splendidly embodies its deep cultural heritage, progressive innovations, and warm hospitality," Morley stated.
Collaborating with the Telangana government enables us to display its remarkable legacy and vibrant development to an international viewership.
This partnership goes beyond organizing the Miss World Festival; it's focused on strengthening communities, honoring diversity, and leaving a enduring impression via our collective dedication to beauty with a meaningful purpose.
