Dario Essugo
Chelsea have finalized the transfers of Sporting CP midfielders Geovany Quenda and Dario Essugo for an overall cost of around £62.4 million, as confirmed by the Portuguese team.
A 17-year-old winger named Quenda is set to move to Chelsea for as much as £44 million, though he will stay with Sporting until the conclusion of the 2025-26 campaign. This promising young player made his Champions League bow this year and has quickly become part of Sporting’s senior squad.
Meanwhile, Essugo, a 20-year-old defensive midfielder, will move to Stamford Bridge this summer after completing his loan spell at Las Palmas. His transfer fee is reported to be £18.4 million. Despite his strong performances in Spain, he has also received two red cards in his last four games.
Although Quenda will remain in Portugal for additional growth, Essugo might join forces with Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca’s team for the first-ever FIFA Club World Cup this upcoming summer in the United States.
The pair have become the most recent acquisitions for Chelsea as they continue to build their collection of promising youngsters; the team has previously sealed deals for another couple of 17-year-old players before this summer's transfer period began.
