The Federal Government has approved the deployment of all full-time Higher National Diploma graduates for involvement in the National Youth Service Corp program.

Boriowo Folasade, who serves as the Director of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education, disclosed this information in an announcement made on Thursday through a press release on behalf of Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, the Minister of Education.

As per the declaration, individuals who finished their HND programs on a full-time basis will qualify for mobilization, whereas those who graduated part-time will still not meet the eligibility criteria.

This choice represents a considerable advancement in tackling the issues faced by HND graduates who were formerly barred from participating in the NYSC program even though they fulfilled all educational criteria.

The Ministry characterized this step as an aspect of their dedication to fairness, inclusiveness, and equity within the educational framework.

To facilitate a seamless rollout, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has been instructed to hasten the compilation of data for qualified graduates.

It was further stated that a circular had been distributed to all polytechnic principals instructing them to upload graduate information onto a recently created HND admissions platform. This system will function as the definitive repository for NYSC deployment purposes.

The Education Minister stated that the new platform would guarantee accurate recording of qualifying graduates and assist in addressing past issues related to document authentication.

He encouraged all eligible full-time HND graduates to seize the opportunity and expedite their mobilization process accordingly.

The declaration states, "Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, The Honourable Minister of Education, takes pleasure in announcing the resolution of the longstanding matter concerning the deployment of Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates into the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC). After discussions with the Director-General of NYSC, the minister verified that solely full-time HND graduates qualify and may now move forward with their mobilization."

This advancement represents a major step forward for full-time HND graduates who were once barred from participating in the NYSC program. It highlights the Federal Ministry of Education's dedication to ensuring equality, justice, and inclusion within Nigeria's educational framework. On the other hand, individuals with part-time HND degrees do not qualify for mobilization under this initiative.

To streamline the mobilization effort, NBTE has been instructed to quickly compile data for qualified HND diploma holders. Accordingly, a memo has been dispatched to every polytechnic Rector, requesting them to transfer the required student information to the recently established HND admissions platform.

Dr. Alausa highlighted that NYSC recruitment is exclusively for individuals who have successfully completed a full-time HND program, clarifying that only these full-time HND graduates will be eligible. Part-time HND graduates continue to be excluded from this process. Additionally, he mentioned that the recently launched portal aims to accurately document all full-time HND graduates, functioning as an authoritative registry for NYSC mobilization and resolving previous issues with enrollment records.

The Honorable Minister encourages all deserving full-time HND graduates to seize this chance fully and expedite their mobilization process. He restated the government's dedication to providing equitable chances for all competent Nigerian graduates and guaranteeing their participation in national progress via the NYSC program.
