Ruroc Unleashes Four Bold New Designs—And We're Craving Even More Wild Helmets!

I am growing tired of ordinary motorcycle helmets.

In my younger days, I recall the bold designs adorning numerous motorcycle helmets. Ranging from fiery and electric motifs to outrageous illustrations and figures, as well as famous racing schemes, every place you turned, somebody sported an awesome helmet.

Then everybody kind of suggested, "Why not go for minimalism?" So the sector followed this approach. by and large .

However, I believe we missed out on something vital as a group when we abandoned those designs. They took away our distinctive character and playfulness. It diminished our capacity for uninhibited self-expression. Perhaps we should return to those times—not due to an arbitrary longing for the past—but because in these highly divided times, the world could benefit from increased joy and lightheartedness.

That's why when I noticed Ruroc's When I saw the new designs for their Eox helmet line, I thought, “This is the path ahead. We can finally enjoy our headgear once more!” Or at least, that’s what I’m hoping for.

Helmets Galore

  • The Bell MX-9 Adventure DLX Helmet is suitable for both on-road and off-road use, but the shield requires an additional tab.
  • My Alpinestars Supertech R10 helmet saved my life, but now I feel sad.

Ruroc, similar to Icon, stands out as one of the primary brands that continue to create playful and distinctive helmet designs. They have collaborated with various partners too. Star Wars Marvel and DC Comics, along with the brand’s exclusive creations known for their strikingly vivid and eye-catching patterns. Being a devoted fan of Star Wars, my personal favorites include the Atlas 4 model adorned with Boba Fett's instantly recognizable helmet design or the captivating Eox Rebel Pilot scheme.

The most recent designs, nonetheless, are just as unconventional, with equally bizarre names.

Inspired by the Eox series of helmets, the latest paintjob collection comprises the Gunslinger, the Oni, the Cyberstrike, and the Steamrider. Indeed, this isn’t a joke. As stated by Ruroc, “The Gunslinger design draws directly from the American Old West, reflecting the toughness and grandeur seen in classic Western movies. It showcases a golden foiled revolver pistol, shotgun cartridges, a corresponding deputy star emblem, along with a bandit skull adorned with fanged teeth.” Additionally, they explain, “[For the Oni design], we’ve combined elements of traditional Japanese mythology with modern aesthetics, drawing inspiration from mythical demon ogres. This helmet incorporates accents like an exposed silver-plated katana blade, a crimson-colored sun symbol, and a sinuous serpent entwined around the top.”

Regarding the Cyberstrike, it draws inspiration from a cyberpunk dystopian world and captures the vibrancy of future cityscapes with its hand-drawn depiction of a cyborg fighter, neon pink highlights, and an audacious, forward-thinking visor. Finally, the Steamrider embraces everything steampunk enthusiasts adore, adorned with metallic silver and copper tones, rusted patina details, and a hammered-shell appearance reminiscent of industrial machinery.

Daniele Caruso, who leads the design team at Ruroc, explained their approach: “With these new Eox designs, our aim was to merge narrative and functionality so they make an impressive statement when you’re riding. Our intention was for every helmet to possess its distinct character—a reflection of the individual wearing it.”

I, personally, am quite fond of the Oni.

The Eox helmet features multi-density impact foam along with aQuad-Matrix carbon composite from Ruroc. Together, these materials enable the helmet to comply with both ECE 22.06 and DOT regulations. Additionally, the Eox can accommodate the company’s Shockwave speaker system, which will be included at no extra cost when purchasing a new Eox model within their range for a restricted period. I find this quite impressive.

When it comes to pricing, an Eox can cost between $499 and $699, varying based on the color options available. However, the highest-priced models belong to the brand’s Cosmic Collection. The newer designs will have a price tag of $559.

What does everyone think? Are you prepared to elevate your helmet style once more? Personally, I'm excited for new options after sticking with plain black, unpainted carbon fiber, or simple colored designs for so long.
